Job description

Position Summary

Functions as customer service representative both in person and over the phone at the Olin Health Center; successful candidate will schedule appointments, greet visitors, and check in patients to clinic; responsible for data entry of charges and codes and medical insurance verification. This is a 12 month, full time position with benefits.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience in the use word processing and database software, a specified medical course such as Nurse Health Aid and Phlebotomy, or Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience. May require knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems. May require certification as a medical assistant.

Desired Qualifications

Completion of a healthcare assistant certificate or college course work in a health care related field or business. Extensive knowledge of computer software including Microsoft products, Outlook email and calendar functions, IDX or patient scheduling software. Understanding of HIPPA/Fraud compliance, patient confidentiality. Critical decision making skills while under stress. Excellent interpersonal skills needed to schedule appointments and check in patients upon arrival and interact with physicians and nursing staff.
