Position Summary

This position develops student leaders for all recognized and Residence Education and Housing Services funded student clubs and organizations in the residence halls and on-campus apartments. The Student Leadership Development Administrator provides leadership and development for the advisors of all recognized and Residence Education and Housing Services funded student clubs and organization in the residence halls. Additionally, this position will help to coordinate our efforts regarding our residential curriculum, the Residential Learning Model.

The Student Leadership Development Administrator directs, plans, and provides opportunities for residential students and staff to develop and enhance leadership skills. This includes enhancing a residential curriculum and future development of specific population based residential curriculum, needs assessment instruments, and support materials. 

This position is a liaison to University Activities Board (UAB), Council of Graduate Students (COGs), Associated Students of MSU (ASMSU), Neighborhood CORE teams, COPS, and Student Life as well as other campus-wide student and service organizations.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Masters in Administration or a Behavioral Science field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in administration, program development and personnel development and training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Written and verbal fluency in foreign language may be required.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated skills of leadership and communication, an understanding of how to promote student learning and academic success, an obvious interest and enthusiasm for working with students, work in developing and enhancing a residential curriculum, and past experience advising college student groups.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., additional nights and weekends may be required
