Job description

Position Summary

We are hiring a research assistant to coordinate research operations for a study being conducted in King County, Washington. The study is funded by the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and involves evaluating the impact of an innovative housing model on domestic violence survivors’ long-term safety, housing stability and well-being. Under the direct supervision of the principal investigator, typical duties include, but are not limited to: (1) Frequent (often daily) in-person interactions with two agencies that are recruiting participants into the study; (2) Recruit study participants in person, offering additional detail as necessary for the participant’s informed consideration of participation; (3) Possess a strong working knowledge of study protocols and ensure data accuracy; (4) Conduct participant interviews in person, and safely transfer data electronically; (5) Supervise study data collectors who will assist with interviews; (6) Coordinate all aspects of data collection in King County; (7) Communicate regularly with the Principal Investigator and complete other research related tasks as assigned.

This is an off-dated position funded for one year from the date of hire with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through completion of one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Master's in the specific field of Social Work or related research; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research methodologies, writing reports, supervision, software, data interpretation and handling in Social Work or related field to research being performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must reside in King County, Washington and be familiar with the area. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an extremely flexible schedule. Must have experience training and supervising others.
