Lecturer - Dance (50% Position)

Job description


The College of Arts, Letters & Education is requesting to fill a permanent 50% Lecturer in Dance position in the Department of Theatre/Film to begin mid-September 2018.

The Theatre & Film Department is seeking a colleague with a strong commitment to students, collegiality, and the expressive arts of dance, film, and theatre.

The candidate will be welcomed into an academic community dedicated to cultural diversity, community engagement, and social justice.

Teaching: typical workload for this position will involve 22.5 credits per academic year, subject to department needs. Responsibilities will include teaching courses in the area of dance, including Dance in the Humanities.

Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching.

Conditions of Employment

The required start date for this position is 09/14/2018. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 09/14/2018.


Required Qualifications:
  • MFA in Dance
  • A record of teaching dance at the university level
  • A record of curricular development in dance at the university level
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who offer one or more of the following preferred qualifications:

  • MFA in Dance with a significant record of professional credits
  • Curriculum development in Dance
