Assistant Professor/NTT Department of Neuroscience
Summary of Opportunity:
The Department of Neuroscience at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking qualified candidates for a non-tenure tack (NTT) Assistant Professor position. This is an opportunity to participate in a collaborative environment to perform comprehensive research toward understanding the mechanisms of comorbidities including cardiomyopathy and heart failure affecting HIV-1 positive/AIDS patients. More specifically, expertise in the investigation of protein quality control, autophagy, and apoptosis pathways using primary cell cultures, animal models and patient samples as evidenced by a strong record of publications in molecular and cellular aspects of cardiovascular research is required. Qualified applicants must possess a Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M or equivalent degree and academic credentials that will support a faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates with sponsored research funding are strongly preferred.
The Department of Neuroscience is a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary research and education basic science department. Areas of research focus may include signal transduction, neural cell degeneration in diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, glial cell disorders, brain tumors vascular disorders and neuroimmunological disorders associated with viral infections including HIV-1 in AIDS and multiple sclerosis.
