Primary Function of Organization Unit: The NC State Department of Chemistry has award-winning re-search-ers and teachers who guide stu-dents through a broad, rigorous curriculum, and our graduates have been highly successful in both aca-demia and industry. Our academic and research pro-grams cover a di-verse spec-trum including analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, biological, polymers, materials, nanoscience, theoretical, and magnetic resonance.

Essential Job Duties: The Undergraduate Program Coordinator (UPC) manages all the activities of the Undergraduate Program office for the Department of Chemistry. This position is the primary program support personnel to the Director of the Undergraduate Programs, and serves as a resource for undergraduate students, parents, faculty and staff. This position is the first point-of-contact resource for undergraduate student questions on all program policies, procedures and activities. This position serves as a resource for undergraduate students (Chemistry majors and non-majors) and faculty, liaises with Undergraduate Office, COS Academic Affairs, Registration and Records and other university offices. They will determine the most effective course of action needed to obtain solutions and take the necessary actions needed to resolve. Provides support for the Undergraduate Program Director advises on PRR's. They will also manage temporary personnel in the Undergraduate Office. The position is in charge of the two Graduation ceremonies (Fall and Spring) in coordination of the program, as well as manages the awards process and the awards for graduating seniors. Advises the Undergraduate Coordinator in senior award selection process. Data Management responsibility will include creating data reports and perform analyses of section offerings, historical needs, anticipated registration, instructor availability, adviser assignments, student credit hour generation, and space availability to ensure that the department is maximizing efficiency and meeting campus course needs. They will collect and organize data on enrollment, courses, and graduation statistics for Department and University databases as well as for the Undergraduate Program committee and various annual reports. In addition this position will gather undergraduate program data and incorporate it in documents and spreadsheets for SACS Accreditation, ACS Accreditation (annual and 5 year reports), Southeast Chemistry Chairs Conference (annual) reports, Department Annual Report, and other reports as needed. This position will provide interface with Records and Registration and ASTRA/SIS for planning of courses and room reservations. They will schedule chemistry classes and class rooms for undergraduate and service courses. Inputs all scheduling data into the SIS system. They will also assist the DUP with reviewing transcripts and transfer coursework for NDS student enrollment. Resolves discrepancies with various administrative units regarding undergraduate records. Assists faculty and staff with scheduling issues as well as assists with the CourseLeaf actions. Process Plan/Subplans forms for undergraduate majors, advise students on form completion. Clear seniors for graduation by reviewing Automated Degree Audit reports and making updates as necessary. Provides graduation approval for all graduating seniors via SIS. The UPC will serve as a member of the Communications committee, which is responsible for the overall direction and activities of all digital media related to the department's web presence, Website, and social media. This position will maintain the undergraduate portion of the departmental webpages and write news postings for department website and 4 feature articles per year on an undergraduate or BS/BA alumni. This position will manage the Chemistry Department Alumni Relations while interfacing with the Office of Advancement to create, maintain and update a database of the Chemistry Alumni, with addresses, job descriptions. They will network with the Alumni via communication tools (newsletter, website and emails) and coordination of Alumni events. In addition this position will be responsible as the Outreach Coordinator who will work with the Outreach Director to coordinate and plan on-campus and off-campus events including the annual Boy Scouts Merit Badge Event during the spring semester (500 scouts) as well as industry recruiting events. Off-campus events will be coordinated by this position for faculty visits primarily to high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools and scientific institutions and industry businesses.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: The individual filling this position should exhibit a working knowledge of the Google Environment and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institution. Prefer a minimum of 3-5 years of university/academic experience or education-related environment.
