FSUS is located in beautiful SouthWood, in the southeast part of Tallahassee. It was established in 1857 and is a K-12 Developmental Research/Charter School sponsored by Florida State University. It provides research and development opportunities for educators as well as providing a laboratory for teacher education. It has approximately 1700 students that represent a population typical of other school sites in Florida. It has strong programs in the academics as well as award-winning arts and athletic programs.

Responsibilities

Coordinates and Supervises all ESE (Exceptional Student Education) staff. Develops, submits and monitors all IDEA grant work, IEP forms and 504 compliance. Identifies FSUS ESE staffing needs and assists with the recruitment and selection of instructional staff. Coordinate and support the K-12 continuum of settings and array of services for students with disabilities, students€™ placed-at-risk and Early Child Find programs. Provide support to regular education and ESE teachers regarding research-based and effective instructional and social-emotional-behavioral practices while supporting the maintenance and improvement of regulatory compliance. Overseas Florida Accountability system related to ESSA and required indicators. The focus will include students with special needs and the lowest 25%.

Analyzes FSUS performance data including Florida state and school-wide assessments regarding the achievement of students, work samples, and other pertinent information affecting the design and evaluation of curriculum and instructional practices. Directs the annual review and revision of the K-12 curriculum and ensures alignment with the FL Curriculum Framework Standards. Works with the school leadership to design professional learning to increase teachers' knowledge of strategies and instruction with stress on students with disabilities and the lower 25% student population. Participates in dispute resolution meetings, hearings and mediation settlement meetings as needed. Participates in regular organizational meetings and professional development activities related to curriculum improvement, curriculum modification to meet student needs and accountability for Student Achievement Engages team leaders in looking at and analyzing data to make informed decisions regarding instruction and content.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in the Education and 8 years of professional experience with at least five years at the State or District level

Preferred

Knowledge of Florida Department of Education's Regulations
Knowledge of education for students with special needs including IEP process and 504 accommodations
Experience in Leadership Coaching
Knowledge of Grant Management in regards to IDEA and other entitlement grants

Anticipated Salary Range

Salary $60,000 - $85,000 based on education and experience
