Posting Summary:
The Department of Dermatology is seeking a full-time or part-time scribe to assist the physicians with clinical documentation. This position primarily provides real-time on-site medical transcription for resident and attending physicians in the Dermatology Department. In addition, it can help with clinical research activities in the department as time allows.

With respect to medical transcription, the position is responsible for accompanying physicians on patient encounters and ensuring accurate completion of all medical documentation. The position also serves as a general documentation assistant to the physician, ensuring appropriate and timely review of pertinent past medical records and laboratory and radiology results as needed.

With respect to research, the position assists the Dermatology physicians with current and potential clinical research projects. The position can work directly with patients to obtain informed consent, patient data, and specimens as required by protocols; enters data into project databases; and assists with study documentation.

A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a pre-med related field, such as biology, chemistry, physics, etc. No equivalency accepted, and the degree must be obtained by the date of hire. Candidates must have knowledge and fluency in medical terminology, excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to multi-task.

Electronic medical record entry experience is preferred, as is working knowledge of physician evaluation, management billing levels, and Epic medical records documentation.

This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge and fluency in medical terminology.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and ability to multi-task.
