Job Summary:

This position will clean, bed, handle, and observe animals in a dairy heifer and lactating cow research operation to comply with the AAALAC accredited research program. Assist in cleanliness of all cattle buildings, feed facilities, feed storage areas, and other buildings that are used daily. Duties include handling cattle, grooming and bedding the resting areas, and scraping manure alleys. This position will feed cattle when the primary feeder is unavailable or not scheduled to work. This position prepares and dispenses specified feed rations to heifers and cows and must be able to operate scales and feed software. Premixes or TMR (total mixed rations) must be delivered at a consistent time for feeding. This position assists in milking the dairy herd for general routine operations and dairy research.
