Primary Purpose:
Provide nutrition services for the 3-city university student community. Assist with education outreach programs to all campus constitutes. Teach academic courses related to nutrition.

This is a part time non-benefit eligible position, with a 10-12 hour work week.

Essential Functions:
1. Perform initial nutritional assessment and follow-up reassessment of student clients and groups to identify nutritional problems relating to menu planning, food selection, food preparation and budget issues and weight management as they relate to overall well-being.

2. Assess the nutritional status of traditionally-aged college individuals and provide appropriate, evidence-based dietary recommendations.

3. Work with other providers (Nurse Practitioners, Counseling, and Athletic Trainers) to provide care and education to students at risk for eating disorders and other nutrition-related disorders.

4. Work with campus groups to provide nutritional education and consultations.

5. Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to high risk clients, and make referrals as needed. MNT includes assessment, nutrition diagnosis, and intervention to manage patient care. Coordinates nutritional aspects of patient’s care with other health care personnel.

6. Document consultations with individual clients through the EMR. Develop and maintain group client records. Document services provided for billing purposes.

7. Participate in on-campus nutritional and wellness program education planning, implementation and evaluation as appropriate.

8. Work with campus food providers to develop healthy, sustainable food options and menus and related resources for making informed nutritional choices.

9. Perform all other duties, including participation in campus committees, as assigned by the Pacific Health Services Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition.
  • Registered by the American Dietetic Association.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in clinical, university, public health or institutional setting.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
  • Knowledge of the science and practice of human nutrition and standards of practice in dietetics.
  • Knowledge of food composition and major sources of nutrients.
  • Knowledge of social, cultural, and economic factors related to the nutritional status and dietary habits of individuals.
  • Knowledge of current trends in college student consumption and relationship of nutrition to other issues, such as substance use, affecting college students.
  • Working knowledge of human behavior and techniques for the modification of eating habits.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and performance.
  • Knowledge of the wellness dimensions, specifically the physical dimension.
  • Ability to teach a college-level undergraduate course.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must also have an intermediate desktop publishing, work processing, and EMR skills.

    Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking across campus, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

    Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
    Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Dietitian may be required to visit other campuses or attend conferences off campus.

    Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.

    Hiring Range: Min $26.45 per hour to Mid $36.37 per hour, non-exempt
