JOB SUMMARY:

The Director for Graduate Student Professional Development will report directly to the Assistant Dean for Professional Development and Inclusive Excellence in the Graduate School. The director will lead the day-to-day planning, organizing, and implementation of professional development programs at Clemson University and is responsible for overseeing the main logistics of professional development programs for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

Professional Development Programming: 60% - Essential

Plan, organize and deliver seminars, workshops, and other professional development events for approximately 5,000 graduate students and 100 postdoctoral scholars for fall, spring and summer semesters; Identify, select and arrange faculty, staff, employer and alumni participation as presenters in professional development events and programs; Oversee and manage the implementation of extended professional development events and activities including, and not limited to, scheduling events, logistics and the facilitation of onboarding and transition programming; Design and manage the implementation of professional development programming and training to support domestic and international teaching assistants (e.g., orientation, workshops, boot camps); Design and manage the implementation of professional development programming and training to support future faculty; Design, organize and maintain electronic and digital resources and information related to trainees, faculty and staff; Assist staff with the design and implementation of media and communications strategies for professional development events; Serve as lead and co-lead at professional development events; Assist in the supervision and development of graduate assistants and interns where appropriate and desirable for the success of professional; development programming.

Outreach & Engagement: 25%- Essential Serve as the primary liaison to Graduate Student Government, Clemson University Postdoctoral Association, and other graduate student organizations to increase awareness and participation in professional development programming, and to identify opportunities to support success; Strengthen existing and develop new partnerships with Clemson University centers, programs, and offices on-and-off the main campus to advance professional development programming goals; Assist in the creation and implementation of outreach efforts to alumni groups and other partners interested in supporting professional development programming; Serve on university-wide committees related to professional development issues and initiatives for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars; Collaborate with other Graduate School staff to design and implement student success initiatives (where relevant and appropriate). Assessment & Evaluation: 15%- Essential Inform the development of learning outcomes for GRAD 360°, Clemson University's comprehensive model of professional development for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars; Assist with the planning and establishment of assessment processes to demonstrate model effectiveness and participant learning; Collect and analyze data to make data-driven and evidence-based decisions for professional development programming; Develop reports for leadership team and make recommendations to address emerging trends and roadblocks; Assist in the dissemination of scholarly activities, including (and not limited to) conference and symposium presentations and journal articles.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A master's degree and experience in student services programs.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Doctoral degree and three plus years of experience (including graduate assistantships); Knowledge and application of graduate student development, socialization and adult learning theories; critical theories and mentoring; Demonstrated ability to conduct sound empirical research, assessment and evaluation; Experience in effectively managing and supervising graduate students and postdoctoral scholars; Classroom teaching experience at the university level.
