Position Summary

The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill invites applications for a temporary lecturer in Hindi-Urdu language for fall 2018, with a possibility of renewal for spring 2019. Responsibilities include teaching one to three sections of first-year and/or second-year Hindi-Urdu language, and active participation in initiatives of the South Asia program. Classes will meet 4 days/week. Salary is $6,500 per section, and benefits are not included.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree, preferably in Hindi-Urdu language pedagogy or literature.

Qualifications and Experience

Native or near-native command of Hindi-Urdu, with demonstrated proficiency in both the Devanagari and Nastaliq writing systems; familiarity with current methods and technologies used in teaching language at the college level.
