The director of admissions leads and manages high school relations, transfer recruitment and services, the campus visit program, and office operations. The director of admissions is a key member of the Enrollment Management staff, which includes the director of financial aid, Registrar and director of marketing.



You'll have the opportunity to:


Develop and implement comprehensive student recruitment plans for undergraduate and professional program students which include, but are not limited to, the following components: development of an inquiry pool through the use of student search services, outreach (college fairs and high school visits), high school, community college and 4-year institution relationships, use of the web and emerging technologies, campus visit programs, publications, and correspondence. Provide leadership, management and support for the recruitment efforts and develop a competent, productive and effective staff by hiring, developing and supervising, directly and through delegation, the administrative, professional, student and clerical support personnel in the Office of Admissions. Coordinate effectively with academic and administrative units across campus to achieve enrollment goals. Effectively administer the College's prospective and admitted student databases by developing a working knowledge of those systems, assessing the systems support needs of the Admissions Office, and working cooperatively with the staff of Information Technology, Institutional Effectiveness, and other offices on campus to ensure that the integrity of the systems and data are maintained and that the systems are utilized productively in support of admission and recruitment functions. Develop data-driven recruitment strategies by effectively utilizing data from a variety of sources to evaluate student characteristics and trends, as well as the College's market position and competition in coordination with the Marketing and Communications department. Manage an assigned recruitment territory carrying out all functions, communications and events associated with the recruitment plan in the assigned territory. Ensure the efficient processing of admission applications by developing and administering policies, procedures, and systems that provide quality admission services for prospective and admitted students. Effectively administer the College's admission, transfer of academic credit, and other applicable policies by supervising and providing leadership to the staff responsible for applying these policies and ensuring that decisions are rendered in accordance with these policies. Adhere to the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC) statement of ethical principles, and to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and American Midwest Conference (AMC) rules as communicated by the director, athletics, fitness and recreation. Lead a college committee related to the seamless entry and transition of incoming students Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. Contribute to the overall success of Admissions and Enrollment Services by advising and assisting the Vice President for Marketing and Enrollment Services in all aspects relating to the recruitment and admission of students and by performing all other essential duties as assigned. Qualifications and how to apply To succeed in this role you will need:


Master's degree required Five to seven years of experience in a college or university admissions office, at least three years at the program manager, assistant director or director level is preferred. Employee selection, supervision and development skills are required. A record of successful outcomes in the development and achievement of enrollment goals is preferred. The ability to understand complex student information systems and to use those systems effectively in a management and strategic capacity are required. Strategic and tactical thinking, data-driven decision making, and short and long-term planning skills are required. Budget management skills and the ability to analyze and interpret statistics and data are required. The ability to perform work with various computer applications is required. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks Ability to work under deadline pressure but maintain attention to detail Excellent customer service skills, collegiality and the ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people on a variety of channels, and to work both independently and as part of a team Must be very articulate, have excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, and able to explain abstract concepts effectively Evidence of the ability to work successfully with college and administrators and high school personnel is required. Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
