Primary Function of Organization Unit: Outreach, Communications and Consulting is a unit of the Office of Information Technology. The unit coordinates a wide range of activities and provides training, consulting, media production, application & web development & information services to enhance the use of technologies. The unit acts as a liaison to foster engagement and open communication between OIT and the NC State community it serves.

Essential Job Duties: The Broadcast and Emerging Media Technician participates in the production of broadcast television, video, radio and emerging media programs and provides creative and technical decision-making that enhances the aesthetic quality of the program. The Technician meets with clients to determine needs and sets up and manages a variety of video, radio and emerging media shoots. The Technician will program and market local origination channels on campus cable system to the NC State community.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: Knowledge of video, radio and emerging media technologies and operation of equipment. Knowledge of the techniques, practices and methods of producing material for video, radio and emerging media programs. Knowledge of current industry practices. Must demonstrate the ability to translate concepts into media products using artistic techniques, tools and talents. Must be able to present information to individuals or groups and deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Must have the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing to ensure understanding. Excellent communication skills to listen and respond appropriately to others. Ability to speak dynamically from a script as well as do some ad lib for live events. Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships with clients (those who supply talent, materials for talent and those for whom professional services are rendered) or customers (those who receive services) by listening to the client/customer and understanding and responding to identified needs.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Prefer at least one year in a video production environment with a certification or full knowledge of Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Apple Macintosh interface. Familiarity with NewTek Tricaster and Wirecast Pro is also preferred.

Necessary Licenses and Certifications: NC Driver's License is required and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
