Position Summary: The Jordan Institute for Families (JIF) is an umbrella for many of the School of Social Work's projects and programs. The primary purpose of the JIF is to strengthen families and engage communities. This position will be organizationally housed within the Family and Children's Resource Program (FCRP), one of several programs within the JIF. FCRP supports excellence in family and child welfare services across the state by assisting county social service providers in the delivery of systematic, high quality services through training and technical assistance activities. This position focuses on the design, development, implementation, and support of a new custom learning management system and associated web-based applications and e-learning modules. These tasks are performed for the Family and Children's Resource Program, Jordan Institute for Families located at the UNC School of Social Work.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; OR Bachelor's degree with some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in business applications consulting or development; OR Associate's degree in computer programming and five years of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced level requires an additional two years of experience.

Qualification and Experience: Proficiency in ASP.NET, Visual Basic and/or C#, T-SQL, XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, and SQL Server 2012 or higher is required. The person in this position needs strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Good Web development skills using current techniques and an overall enthusiasm for developing and supporting responsive Web applications using both existing and emerging technologies is most important. The applicant must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both technical and non-technical staff and clients. Knowledge of Learning Management Systems extremely helpful. N-tier experience and knowledge of open source software, and SCORM or Tin Can API is helpful.
