The Center for Leadership & Social Change is a department with the Division of Student Affairs. The Division of Student Affairs collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to create welcoming, supportive and challenging environments that maximize opportunities for student learning and success. Through high quality programs and services, the Division staff facilitates student development, celebrates differences, and promotes civic and global responsibility. Florida State University's Center for Leadership & Social Change seeks a collaborative and creative student development educator to lead initiatives at the intersection of service, diversity, and leadership. The Student Program Coordinator will work with colleagues to transform the lives of students, faculty, and staff through community engagement, leadership education, and identity development.
The successful candidate will possess experience in the realm of community engagement/service, with an emphasis on leadership and diversity. Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Center for Leadership & Social Change, the Program Coordinator engages in administrative, programming, and educator roles, including but not limited to the following responsibilities:
Coordination and management of student development programs, including, but not limited to PeaceJam Southeast, an international education program that inspires youth to create positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world, through the inspiration of Nobel Peace Prize winners. Coordination and management includes supervising a team of graduate student and undergraduate interns in the creation of program learning outcomes, budgets, curriculum, facilitation, and evaluation
Specific to the coordination of PeaceJam is the development of large educational gatherings, programs, and workshops for local and regional constituents. Target audience includes college, K-12 students and teachers from across the Southeast who offer PeaceJam programming in school and community settings. Program development includes training FSU students in the facilitation of curriculum related to leadership, identity, and service.
Recruiting, training, and supporting collegiate, educational, and community partners integral to FSU students community engagement and learning. This includes students, faculty, teachers, and advisors who serve as co-educators in school and community settings throughout the Southeast.
Serving on department, division, and campus-wide committees as assigned. Initiating and supporting creative ideas to move the Center for Leadership & Social Change forward in its mission and vision, with other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and two years' experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to 6 years. Note: Higher education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.
Candidate must possess experience in student development through community engagement, and be prepared to utilize the lenses of leadership, diversity, and identity development in this work.
Additional qualifications include:
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop and facilitate workshops and training sessions.
- Experience advising and/or supervising college students.
- A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain upon hire.
Master's degree preferred.
Preferred qualifications include experience with the local non-profit community and Leon County Schools, as well as academic service-learning.

Anticipated Salary Range
Mid- to upper- $30,000s
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
If not otherwise specified, schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
