Description: The Azusa Pacific University Department of Theater Arts invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor/Director - Producer of On-Camera Acting to begin August 16, 2018. The department, which consists of five full-time faculty members, offers a B.A. in Theater Arts and a BFA in Acting for the Stage and Screen. The primary responsibilities for this position will be working within the BFA in Acting. The Department of Theater Arts is housed within the School of Visual and Performing Arts in the College of Music and the Arts. The College of Music and the Arts is focused on exceptional artistic development and the incorporation of authentic Christian faith. These dual aspirations extend and enrich our influence on culture.
Responsibilities: The Assistant or Associate Professor/Director Producer of On-Camera Acting will be responsible for teaching acting in the BFA in Acting for the Stage and Screen and directing/producing a web series and short film. The candidate will direct two original works per year, teach acting within the BFA degree, and mentor diverse populations of students. The ideal candidate will have a successful record of directing/producing at the professional level. In addition to directing/producing BFA students in a web series and short film, this professor will teach on-camera acting courses. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in acting and direct film products. Applicants should demonstrate an active career in directing and producing.

Additional responsibilities may include:

    Working with college and university leadership to recruit and retain students. Advising students. Actively participating in service to the University through committee participation, School and/or University level as well as service to the broader professional community. Maintaining active professional scholarship. Advancing the APU mission, vision, and strategic plan. Other duties as assigned by the Chair. May be needed to work at alternative Regional Campuses or Sites.

Level: Commensurate upon experience. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications: Earned terminal degree (MFA) in Directing or Acting or equivalent professional experience, and a commitment to teaching excellence and industry connectivity.

Workload: 10 month contract
