Under the direction of the Director of Student Outreach and Retention, the Student Account Specialist serves as a key liaison between First Time Full Time Freshman students and University enrollment services. The work of the  Student Account Specialist involves coordinating in office efforts to resolve student account and/or enrollment issues. This position interacts with FTFT Freshman students on a daily basis and has a working knowledge of University policies and procedures. This person establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with other offices or organizations whose functions affect assigned responsibilities. Additionally, the Student Account Specialist coordinates the Bend Don’t Break Pilot Probation Program, intervention programming for at-risk student cohorts, and manages student Retention Specialists and Success Coaches. The position also  participates in the development and implementation of initiatives and processes related to at-risk student persistence programming.


Job Duties:


Coordinates the Bend Don’t Break Pilot Probation Program and early intervention initiatives to at-risk FTFT student populations. Manages SOAR appointment calendar and coordinates scheduling and training of student Retention Specialist and Success Coaches. In collaboration with Financial Aid Counselors, responsible for communicating financial information and educating students and parents on four year plans that promote financial accountability to the university. In collaboration with the Bursar’s Office, responsible for providing support to students who need assistance with scheduling payment plans and conduct proactive outreach to students who default on payment plans. In collaboration with the Health and Wellness Center, responsible for providing support in a professional and confidential manner to students who need assistance with submitting compliance immunization records. Responsible for the collection and integrity of data concerning checking in appointments and walk-ins on the EAB scheduling system. Manages in class assistance with registration/enrollment holds to the Orientation to College student cohort. Maintains current knowledge of procedures within the student services areas and the ability to disseminate the information to the student with the purpose of educating them. Ability to handle and resolve student complaints, respond to inquiries via phone, email and/or in person, and provide follow-up calls where necessary. Responsible for attending special functions where office representation is required. This may include late night(s) and/or weekend hours. Completes other task as assigned.  


Minimum Qualifications :


Applicants must minimally possess a bachelor’s degree. The successful candidate will be able to display excellent time management, organizational, interpersonal skills and an in-depth understanding of student support services. Applicants must have working knowledge of the methods and techniques used to locate and analyze.


Qualifications :


Experience using Microsoft Access software. Experience working with PeopleSoft applications. Requires experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must possess the ability to work with highly a diverse population and have knowledge of college student retention /resiliency theory. Cross-trained to answer questions concerning financial aid, registration, accounts payable, and academic policies and procedures is preferred. General knowledge of FAFSA, Tuition Aid Grant (TAG), Federal Direct Loans, Parent Plus Loan, and Perkins Loan requirements is required.
