To assist faculty in teaching labs associated with specific courses in the Neuroscience Program. Coordination, set up, implementation, and clean up of the lab portion of the course is required. Assist faculty in teaching and guiding students through lab exercises. Also required: grading of laboratory reports and exams, hiring and supervising student assistants and designing and testing of lab experiments and equipment.
Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Some weekends or evening hours may be required.Applicants must possess a BA or BS in a natural science field with an emphasis in an area of neuroscience or molecular biology (MS is strongly preferred); excellent oral and written communications skills; strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities; and an ability to provide individual and group instruction with sensitivity to different learning styles. Candidates should ideally be familiar with neuroscience/psychology, molecular biology, experimental design, and the use of computers in data acquisition and analysis.
Courses taught may include the lab portions of: Molecular Neuroscience, Social Neuroscience, and Cognitive Neuroscience.
Experience teaching labs using laboratory equipment and techniques, including laboratory specimen where appropriate, or field-related techniques. Demonstrated supervisory and project coordination experience required. Experience in teaching both field-based and lab-based laboratories is preferred.
