Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Program in American Studies invites applications for a one-year Post-Doctoral Research Associate in American Studies, with a possible one-year renewal, with preference for applicants working in the following areas: Southern Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American Studies, Performance Studies or Ethnography; gender and sexuality; material and/or visual culture; migration and immigration (especially from the MENA region).

The successful candidate will have an ongoing program of research and publication in one of these fields, and will be responsible for conducting their own research and for teaching one course in the Fall 2018 semester and two courses in Spring 2019.

The appointment period will begin August 25, 2018 and will end May 24, 2019 (with possible renewal for one year). Pay is competitive, and benefits are included.

Candidates for this position must be on track to complete their PhD degree by May 31, 2018, and candidates are required to have earned their degrees and deposited their PhD dissertation by August 1, 2018. Candidates must combine strong research potential with commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
