Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Housing Assignments Coordinator works closely with other professionals in Housing and the University as a whole to administer and manage the housing and residence education program serving over 7,000 on-campus students. This position has primary responsibility for overseeing and managing the on-campus housing assignments processes, room selection processes, room transfer and cancellation processes, as well as general development and operation of the Housing Management System (Odyssey) for populations including, but not limited to First-Time in College, Returning students, Transfer students, Living Learning Communities, Gamecock Gateway students, International students, and the public private partnership properties. The Assignment Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Director for Assignments. Some evenings and weekend work, required. This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather and other emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a strong background in sales, marketing, or public relations


Excellent written and oral presentation skills. Aptitude for understanding and managing complex database systems. Ability to coordinate a variety of administrative and student services functions employing sound judgment, discretion, confidentiality, sensitivity to others, strong technical skills, and thorough familiarization of institutional policies and procedures. Understanding and appreciation of the unique needs of a college student population.
