About the Unit
This 3-year, NIH-funded research project involves the Extension for Community Health Outcomes (ECHO), an innovative model to expand primary care capacity in disadvantaged communities to manage common chronic physical and mental health disorders. Project ECHO uses videoconference technology to build a virtual conference room for purposes of 'telementor' of community-based providers through a virtual rounding format that includes didactics coupled with case-based, iterative, patient-specific discussions. The University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) spearheaded the use of this model in an urban setting with the launch of ECHO-Chicago in 2010, and is the longest-running urban ECHO program in the world.
The goals of this specific research project are to use the ECHO-Chicago model to:
- Improve access to mental health services in both minority and disadvantaged communities with a serious shortage of mental health providers;
- Build capacity at the primary care level to help primary care providers become more competent and comfortable in delivering care to patients with severe mental illness; and
- Reduce the burden on the specialty mental health care system.
- We are in search of a Research Assistant to develop and maintain databases to capture program monitoring and evaluation data.
- Develop and maintain data dashboard to share timely quality improvement data with community clinic partners.
- Collaborate with dynamic, multidisciplinary project team.
- Collaborate with community clinic partners to ensure timely, reliable, and valid medical record audits.
- Administer, collect, and manage evaluation surveys using REDCap data capture system.
- Assist with project data analysis using SPSS.
- Assist with IRB protocol amendments and renewals.
- Assist with preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
- Demonstrated report preparation and presentation skills required.
- Demonstrated data management and analysis skill using SPSS required.
- Demonstrated capacity to use REDCap or similar online data capture, management, and analysis system required.
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- One year of research experience or relevant experience preferred.
