Primary Function of Organization Unit: The National Science Foundation Nanosystems Engineering Research Center for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST) is a joint effort between NC State and partner institutions Florida International University, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Virginia. The center, funded by an initial five-year $18.5 million grant from NSF, also includes five affiliated universities and about 30 industry partners in its global research consortium. ASSIST is focused on development of ultra-low power, wearable electronics to correlate personal health and personal environmental exposure. The multi-university effort conducts nanotechnology research in energy harvesting, ULP electronics, sensors and radios and textiles-based wearable integration with ultimate goal to positively impact global health. Our Vision We envision a paradigm shift in health informatics enabled by wearable nanotechnologies that monitor individual health parameters and environmental exposures. Long-term sensing will enable patients, doctors, and scientists to make direct correlations between health and environmental toxins leading to chronic disease prediction, management, and treatment. ASSIST advances will accelerate environmental health research and clinical trials as well as inform environmental policy. Essential Job Duties: The ASSIST engineering and research center is seeking a versatile candidate to provide research administrative support to the Center. The successful candidate will provide Administrative Support, Human Resources Support, Preward Support and Program Administration Support. Most importantly, the Center is in search for a candidate who can handle completing tasks and priorities while managing the day-to-day operations of the Center. This is a great opportunity to join a growing research center in a multi-faceted position!
Department Required Skills: - Excellent written, verbal, and excellent organizational skills. - Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities in a dynamic and face-paced environment. - Working knowledge of Google applications (such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc). - High level of computer competency with spreadsheet and word processing software. - Independently able to support the functions of the center with/without the Director. - Familiarity with web-based information management programs (such as PeopleSoft HR, PeopleSoft Financials, and travel systems).
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Two or more years of administrative support and Human Resources generalist experience. - Prior experience in a university setting - Associates or Bachelors degree preferred with demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. - Prior experience with MS Word and Excel, Google Drive and Calendar. - Experience with PeopleSoft or similar information management system in an academic setting.
