Duties: Reporting jointly to the Director of the Biotechnology Program and the Director of Academic Operations in the Chemical and Bioengineering department (CBE) at Penn Engineering, the Academic Coordinator will provide course assistance for Director of Biotechnology's CBE 554 and CBE 562 courses. Coordinate the Master of Biotechnology (BIOT) Program; work with graduate students, faculty, and administrators within Penn Engineering, School of Arts and Sciences, Wharton School, and School of Medicine. Field inquiries from prospective applicants and process BIOT applications. Coordinate orientation for students; advise on curricula; solve registration issues; work with various University and School student and administrative databases and software. Coordinate special events, such as graduation, seminars, and professional short courses. Work closely with the Director of the Biotechnology Program on issues of program management and curriculum development. Work closely with Research and Support Services (RAS), handle external communications, including publicity, advertisement, and recruitment for BIOT. Prepare brochures and handouts; maintain web sites and process Concur reimbursements for the Director of Biotechnology. Provide backup and assistance to CBE department and Director of Academic Operations, when needed. Assist students, faculty, and staff and with general inquiries and ordering of department office supplies.

Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Previous University experience and skilled with database systems, especially CollegeNet preferred. The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. Demonstrated ability to connect with students, staff and faculty. Proficiency in MS Office suite required (Word, Excel, Power Point).
