Position Summary
The Department of Social Work at the Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applicants for a temporary full time Lecturer (Category II) positions with a focus on teaching Foundation Year and Concentration Year Practice Courses. Applicants are encouraged to explain their area of clinical social work practice expertise in one or more settings and/or populations. This position will be for the 2018-2019 academic year with possible renewal based on funding and program need.

The successful candidate will have primary assignment to the MSW program and teach in the areas of departmental need and candidate qualifications; this may include teaching in the undergraduate program. Teaching will consist of 30 semester credits per academic year. Teaching may include online, face to face, and hybrid instruction; face-to-face instruction may include day, evening, and weekend as needed. The successful candidate may also take on lead faculty responsibilities for specific courses and be responsible to update and modify online and on campus course material. In addition, the successful candidates will advise a designated load of BSSW or MSW students and perform professional advising for social work students. The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Required Qualifications
1) Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited institution.
2) Two (2) years relevant post-MSW experience.

Preferred Qualifications
1) Five years post-MSW practice experience
2) Social work education experience specifically teaching practice related graduate courses
3) Previous teaching in an online or distributed learning context
4) Previous course design or other relevant experience to provide curriculum leadership
5) Previous teaching or practice experience serving first generation college students and/or historically marginalized populations.
6) Experience working with and knowledge of factors impacting the success of underserved populations including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners and experience utilizing best practices to address the needs of these populations to foster retention and success.
