Financial Analyst, DIT
Job Description Summary:
I. JOB OVERVIEW
The Financial Analyst within the Division of Information Technology supports IT Finance at GW. Assisting in the collection, loading and validation of operational and financial data to support Technology Business Management. This position is supervised by the Assistant Finance Director, and will also support Divisional research goals as an integral part of the Financial Services team within the Division of Information Technology (DIT).
This Analyst will help support the implementation and operation of the Technology Business Management (TBM) process designed to position executives with the knowledge to manage and communicate the cost, quality, and value of Technology services. The Financial Analyst will import, transform, and rationalize data from systems of record such as General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Asset Management, Centralized Contracts Repository, etc., and provide the insights to lead to effective decision making. Additionally, this role will provide visibility into planned, actual, and forecasted spend, and will react with quick, accurate TBM data adjustments as the business needs change. In addition, this role will support the following responsibilities:
• Serves as a resource on matters pertaining to our Technology Business Management process.
• Assists in development and monitoring of monthly financial reporting in terms of IT Finance
• Collaborate with the IT Finance team to develop IT financial metrics, and cost transparency initiatives
The Analyst performs the core functions of monitoring and reviewing for all sponsored projects transactions to include monthly progress reports, semi-annual effort reporting and all expenditures. Ensures that the award budget is correct at the time of award setup. Process all compensation redistributions and EPAF relating to sponsored projects. The incumbent performs as a primary resource to assist Divisional researcher with all matters relating to financial transactions, budget monitoring, requisitions, purchase orders and expense reporting. Analyzes awards during the close out stage. Acts as a liaison between DIT and Central offices (Office of Vice President of Research, Grants and Contracts Accounting Services, etc).
Additional responsibilities include:
• Monitors third party vendor feeds and resolve all issue with errors relating to the feed.
• Prepares several Annual Surveys (Exempt Properties, NSF HERD, HEA Reporting, Oracle Review...etc)
• Serves as the primary contact for cost model creation and updates.
• Performs financial analysis as needed for different area of DIT budget.
• Monitors DIT reimbursements and contributions to insure that all transactions are processed in a timely manner. Prepares invoices for CAAREN and other DIT services as needed.
• Assist with the maintenance of the department's SharePoint site.
• Collaborate with the Finance Director to develop training/education initiatives around IT financial management, and other finance-related topics
The position is based at GW's Virginia Science & Technology campus in Ashburn, VA but may require travel to the Foggy Bottom campus located in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
