Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of routine technical duties in a research laboratory.

Work Performed

The laboratory technician will perform molecular biology assays (such as cloning, gel electrophorisis, cell culture) and computational analyses of high-throughput data (such as PBM, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, DNase-seq). Duties: - gene cloning and sequencing, PCR, bacterial transformation - protein expression and purification, Western blots - protein-DNA binding experiments - prepare culture media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions - compile and document procedures and results - maintain laboratory equipment - process and analyze protein-DNA binding microarray data - process and analyze high-througput sequencing data (ChIP-seq, DNase-seq, RNA-seq) - compile and document the results of computational analyses - perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Education/Training
Work requires a basic science background normally acquired through a high school education.

Experience
Work requires six months laboratory experience or laboratory coursework. Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
