The Lower School Computer Science Teacher is responsible for developing innovative curriculum and teaching computer science classes in grades three, four, and five, with each homeroom class meeting once per week for 45 minutes. The Lower School Computer Science Teacher will collaborate with other members of the Computer Science Department to maintain a cohesive curriculum sequence from grades N-12, advocating for computer science education in grades N-12. Additionally, the Lower School Computer Science teacher is responsible for introducing students to Google Drive, teaching students about file management and digital citizenship, keyboarding account management, and helping students and homeroom teachers to set-up and manage various usernames and passwords.

The Computer Science Department is responsible for the computer science education of students in grades nursery through twelve. Computer science classes are taught in the schools' computer labs; at other times the labs are open for use by students, faculty, and staff. The computer labs contain Apple computers, ipads, robotics equipment and devices that are managed by department members for curricular needs.
- Teachers are responsible for supervising students both in and out of the classroom and maintaining up-to-date teaching techniques to provide students with a quality educational experience.
- Teachers are also expected to build deep relationships with students, families, other faculty and staff to communicate about student progress and to foster a culture of community. - Full-time teachers are expected to work a 40-hour week and the required number of days as stipulated in the Faculty Association contract. All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

- Degree(s) in computer science or related field preferred.

- At least two years teaching experience preferred.
- Experience developing curriculum preferred.
- Experience working with elementary age children preferred.
- Experience working with a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, learning abilities, class, language and nationality.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move loads of at least 5 lbs and up to 25 lbs
- Ability to use computers extensively for up to 4 hours
- Ability to Use Standard Office Equipment
- Ability to move around building/classroom to interact with students, staff, faculty, and extended community
