Responsibilities

Oversees Marymount Student Counseling Services ( SCS ) outreach programming and services to students, staff, faculty, and the community. Assesses populations of need on campus and delivers creative and inclusively-minded primary and secondary outreach interventions. Provides Marymount students with counseling services including evaluations and intakes, individual/group therapy, crisis intervention, and consultation to the Marymount community. Involvement in supervision and training of graduate trainees.


Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's degree or higher in psychology, counseling, social work or related discipline.
Experience: 2 years of related outreach and/or counseling experience, preferably at a college counseling center.
Licensed or license-eligible in Virginia.
Special knowledge: Skills in crisis intervention, outreach, presenting information, and training.
Ability to communicate effectively, strong interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm for collaboration.

Responsibility / Duty

Clinical Services. Provides individual and group counseling services to MU student population. Services also include crisis management during office hours as well as rotation of On Call crisis phone and weekly intake assessments for new clients. Maintains clinical notes in Titanium for all services in accordance with ethical standards and guidelines.

Responsibility / Duty

Outreach coordination. Creates and delivers outreach and psycho-educational programming tailored to student need and in consultation with other campus departments and the SCS staff. This includes but is not limited to orientation, classroom presentations, tabling, and events. Creates vision for outreach in alignment with University mission and SCS's vision, mission, and orientation toward social justice initiatives. Other aspects of this role includes program evaluation of outreach initiatives and developing and maintaining relationships with MU staff and faculty, departments/organizations with whom the SCS collaborates, and student leaders.

Responsibility / Duty

Consultation. Consults with parents, physicians, faculty, academic deans, residence life staff, off-campus counseling services, other campus offices, SCS staff, and students in order to provide quality care to students. Collaborates with Student Health Center's psychiatric provider regarding monitoring medication of mutual clients. Refers students off campus to providers and other resources as appropriate.

Supervision and training. Participates in training program, potentially supervising graduate trainees as well as being involved in presentations and trainings to graduate trainee class.

Responsibility / Duty

Staff development and training. Participates in a range of weekly and biweekly staff meetings aimed at counselor development and student care, including but not limited to, case consultation, supervision of supervision, and diversity dialogues.
