Position Summary

This position is primarily research-oriented. The successful candidate will:

  • Assist with coordinating clinical trials and surveillance projects
  • Submit protocols to the IRB
  • Assist with research budget preparation
  • Evaluate eligible candidates for studies
  • Assist with consenting and carrying out research protocols
  • Implement and ensure compliance with protocols
  • Develop source documents
  • Obtain and record patient data and maintain program/research and patient records
  • Maintain research drug inventories
  • Serve as a resource on research questions and protocols
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and compliance audits
  • Manage research billing

This position will also include the provision of direct, independent, specialized nursing care; the administration of medications and infusions; service as a patient advocate; and the provision of complex instruction and counseling to patients and their families related to research studies. This position may include international and national travel outside of normal business hours as per department policy, and may require the successful candidate to participate in MSU sponsored research meetings.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Nursing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. May require a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and/or work experience in a particular area of nursing or health care. Must have experience with research grants and budgets, along with knowledge of IRB and grant submission; experience with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR); willingness to travel; and must provide own transportation to clinics and work.

Desired Qualifications

ICH-GCP certification, good communication skills with attention to detail; working knowledge and experience of specialized databases including HRSA databases, Electronic Medical Record (EMR), electronic data capture systems; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with shipping of biological materials; knowledge in coagulation disorders including hemophilia, VWD, platelet disorders, and thrombophilia; clinical research certification.

This is an off-dated position funded for 1 year from date of hire with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.

Exposure to human blood, serum, tissue, and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions.
