Hofstra University is located on a scenic, 244-acre campus in Hempstead, Long Island, 25 miles east of New York City. Founded as a private, nonsectarian, coeducational institution in 1935, Hofstra became Long Island’s first private university in 1963.

Hofstra continues to build on a trajectory of increasing national recognition. The University was chosen to host three consecutive presidential debates in 2008, 2012, and 2016. Hofstra is consistently recognized in the best colleges list in several publications. In 2015, Forbes named Hofstra one of the top 50 most entrepreneurial universities in the U.S.

At Hofstra, students get the best of both worlds. The campus is a leafy oasis just a quick train ride away from New York City and all its cultural, recreational, and professional opportunities. The University offers small classes and personal attention with the resources, technology, and facilities of a large university. Students can choose from more than 160 undergraduate program options and 165 graduate program options in the liberal arts and sciences, education, health professions and human services, the Peter S. Kalikow School of Government, Public Policy and International Affairs, the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Frank G. Zarb School of Business, the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, the Maurice A. Deane School of Law, the Hofstra Northwell School of Graduate Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies, and the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

Hofstra University is a dynamic community of more than 11,000 students from around the world who are dedicated to civic engagement, academic excellence, and becoming leaders in their communities and their careers.

Reporting directly to the President and as a member of the President’s cabinet, the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (“CIO”) will oversee the delivery of all technology services supporting administrative, academic, and research functions. The CIO will lead the University-wide Information Technology department (“IT”), with a staff of more than 80 employees. IT manages campus-wide technology infrastructure, operations, and support; network and telecommunications; administrative enterprise applications; cybersecurity and privacy; educational technology; and research computing. The goal of IT is to provide an effective and secure technology infrastructure and to deliver innovative, high-quality information technology in support of the University’s mission.

The next CIO will have the extraordinary opportunity for a transformative IT executive to chart a bold and innovative path for technology at Hofstra. Strong candidates will demonstrate a record of progressive responsibility and significant senior-level management experience in a complex IT environment plus the ability to translate an institution’s technological needs into realistic solutions.  A bachelor’s degree is required; candidates should also either hold a master’s degree (or other advanced professional degree) or demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience in higher education or a corporate background that demonstrates exposure to or familiarity with higher education is preferred.
