Assistant Professor for Teaching in Art History

Department of Art History

Position for Academic Year 2018-9

Full-time, non-tenure-track; one year term

Qualifications: Terminal degree in Art History (PhD) at the time of hire and minimum of 3 years of successful work experience in positions outside of academia.  Experience in curation and a record of publication; demonstrated commitment to inclusivity with respect to issues of race, class, gender, ethnicity, and disabilities through professional work and pedagogy. Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate research projects. Ability to teach Honors Introductory courses in the Art of the World, Introduction to Historiography, classes on critical theory, and classes on the intersection of the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, on the undergraduate and graduate level.  Ability to teach broadly to undergraduate non-majors, studio undergraduate majors, Art History undergraduate majors, MA, MArch, MFA and PhD students.

Responsibilities: Teach 3-3 load, assuming all major duties in educational activities, which may include secondary advising on MA, MFA, and PhD theses.

Candidate will: Work cross-disciplinarily; be engaged in teaching contemporary art history with a solid understanding of theory and practice of the arts across time.
