BASIC:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, the Associate Director of Financial Aid assists with the day-to-day management of the Office of Financial Aid. They are also responsible for overseeing the office’s loan programs and Title IV reconciliation processes. This position works with the Financial Aid Data Coordinator in the oversight and management of the overall use of technology for the Office of Financial Aid to support its mission to provide quality student service. As a senior level manager on the Enrollment Management Team, the Associate Director works closely with all directors and the Vice President to design and implement financial aid processes which are strategic, efficient, and effective in meeting institutional enrollment goals.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Primary contact and full-service counselor for a designated segment of the student population for all matter related to financial assistance
 Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institution regulations and guidelines for financial aid
 Determine eligibility and award various types of federal, state, institutional, and outside aid to students in full compliance with all policies and regulations
 Oversee the Federal Direct Loan and private student loan programs, including the origination and disbursement of loans 
 Reconcile all Title IV grant and loans funds with the U.S. Department of Education
 Coordinate with the Finance Office in the drawdown of Title IV funds
 Review electronic transmission of student assistance to the Office of Student Accounts
 Coordinate with Data Coordinator with the ISIR dataload process
 Participate in Enrollment Management events as needed
 Review and complete Professional Judgments for students and their families experiencing financial and/or personal hardship 
 Serve as backup for the Data Coordinator for the dataload and award letter generation processes
 Process information for issuing student credit refunds
 Represents the office when the Director of Financial Aid is not available

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 Bachelor’s Degree
 Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in higher education working with the regulations, compliance, and institutional issues related to financial aid
 Experienced in student loan processing and counseling
 Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, including strong sensitivity to diverse student populations.
 Self-motivated and able to work well independently and as part of a team
 Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
 Demonstrated experience with various federal processing systems (COD, NSLDS, FAAccess and ELM)
 Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Access reporting 
 Demonstrated experience with Ellucian Banner Financial Aid module preferred
