Hofstra University's Information Technology division has an opening for an Instructional Technologist within its educational and research technology (EdTech) unit. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Faculty Computing Services and provides technical support for teaching, learning and research.
The instructional technologist will work in close collaboration with Hofstra University faculty, students and all members of Hofstra’s Information Technology team to provide leadership and direction for the adoption and effective use of educational and instructional technologies.
This position will focus partially on providing technical support for the nationally recognized Zarb School of Business. Technologies supported in the School of Business include but are not limited to the Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room, Behavioral Lab, Lecture Capture, VDI, laptops/desktops, Blackboard LMS, online and hybrid course development and associated media production, Crestron systems and podiums.
This position also supports faculty with classroom technologies and the integration and development of various technologies for online, hybrid and face-to-face class courses.
He/she will also develop and conduct in-person and online training workshops in the use of educational and instructional technologies for faculty and will provide one-to-one support and consultation to faculty. He/she will collaborate with the Faculty Center on workshops, events and exploratory technologies. Additional responsibilities include supporting faculty in their use of the Blackboard LMS and supporting various cutting-edge technologies, such as AR/VR, Hololens, adaptive learning and artificial intelligence for use in teaching and research.
This position may require some evening, nighttime and weekend work. In addition, he/she will be responsible for all work as assigned.
