School of Pharmacy

University of Charleston

The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy seeks applicants for an Assistant, Associate or Professor of Biomedical Sciences.  The faculty position is full-time, non-tenure track (rank and salary commensurate with skills and experience).  The School of Pharmacy is designed to prepare pharmacists who will provide comprehensive patient care, advance the profession through research and advocacy, and to serve the community as leaders in rural health care.  The School fosters active participation of faculty, staff and students in an agenda of community outreach, advocacy, and activism as one of the hallmarks of the pharmacy program.

Faculty members are expected to support the vision and mission of the School of Pharmacy through teaching in the professional pharmacy curriculum, participating in scholarly activities, and being an active member of School of Pharmacy and University committees.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop teaching materials, coordinate courses, and teach biochemistry, pathophysiology, immunology, and discipline-specific elective offerings in an entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum as well as to Master level students. Active participation in the teaching and evaluation of thesis work is expected as well as to the maintenance and operations associated with the Masters of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences programs.   Particular attention to developing classroom materials and instruction that imparts relevant skills and encourages student mastery of how their knowledge can translate into making meaningful differences as future pharmacists in addressing future healthcare needs is desired.  In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to be active in scholarly activities, with strong preference given to candidates with an ability, willingness, and experience in collaborating with fellow faculty members on scholarly endeavors.  A collaborative relationship between the School and Charleston Area Medical Center - Memorial Division, home to one of the largest cardiology programs in the United States, along with opportunities in oncology and addiction studies provides a fertile environment and opportunity for research.  Other opportunities that are strongly encouraged include research collaborations with UCSOP residents, practice faculty, local health care organizations, and federal entities.

Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology, Immunopharmacology, Physiology or a related science. A background in pharmacy or pharmacy education is also preferred. The position will be housed in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences (DPAS).

The position is available beginning on August 1, 2018.  Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Interested individuals should provide a letter of interest, current curriculum vitae and three letters of recommendation (electronic correspondence is encouraged) to:
