Assistant Director of Competitive Sports and Operations, Campus Recreation  Requisition # 18000000UF 

 

This position will coordinate the day to day operations for all recreational facilities at Campus Recreation to include the Aquatic & Recreation Center(ARC), Maclellan Gym (Mac), and new UTC Sport Complex and other recreational facilities that may be added. This position will coordinate all daily maintenance operations of these facilities. This position is a vital part of the leadership team at Campus Recreation that includes, but not limited to, providing leadership to professional staff or student employees and demonstrating effective management skills. Other duties maybe assigned as situations or workloads change at the discretion of the supervisor and to meet the needs of the department.  Responsibilities include:

  • Facilities Management of the ARC, Mac, sports field including Challenger and new UTC Sports Complex. This may also include shared space, such as the Tennis Complex or others that may be added or shared with Athletics.
  • Working with outsourced custodial staff on a daily basis and provide a working scheduled to accomplish cleaning needs. This position will work directly with the custodial supervisor and discuss issues or concerns, and report to his/her supervisor.  This position will purchase all supplies for custodial needs and will reconcile budgetary expenses. The position will work with his/her supervisor on a balanced budget and communicate updates as needed; planning, organizing, developing, and executing a detailed maintenance plan and communicating to supervisor weekly.
  • Processing facility rentals and reservations both internally/externally; submitting and reconciling facility work orders; executing and submitting facility contracts; processing invoices and transfer vouchers for signatures; collaborating with Risk Management on facility compliance and safety issues; coordinating facility operations and scheduling or planning facility maintenance work.
  • Staff supervision and professional/leadership development: supervision of the Club Sport Coordinator, Intramural Coordinator and Operations Coordinator including contact or supervision with a part-time rowing coach and student assistants working for Campus Recreation; performing yearly performance reviews, monitoring leave time off, scheduling work to be performed; attendance at continuing education conferences and training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

REQUIRED:

Master’s degree required. Experience managing staff and knowledge of professional staff development is required; leadership ability through active learning and coaching. Must have skills pertaining to leadership and supervising professional staff members in the department. Ability to be a team play and handle conflict when it arises. Must have knowledge of facility maintenance; ability to maintain budget; knowledge of risk management planning; ability to schedule facility reservations systems for department and communicate logistics; knowledge of invoicing/transfer vouchers. Must have computer and web skills including use of electronic marketing and social media functions. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid. Occasional work on weekends is required.

PREFERRED:

Knowledge of contracts, POIs and all forms associated with reservations for the university.  Knowledge of Fusion software for program scheduling purposes, Kronos, When to work software. Campus Recreation leadership experience in a professional position with at least two years' experience.
