Position Summary: The Department of Romance Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is currently seeking applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor of Portuguese. We are seeking individuals with a record of interdisciplinary course creation, the development of faculty-led study abroad programs and teaching-assistant training within a diverse undergraduate university environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a 3/3 course load in both language and a variety of culture classes, as well as potential administrative responsibilities. Those having familiarity with program development in Portuguese are strongly encouraged to apply. Appointment begins July 1, 2018. This is a one-year appointment with benefits and the possibility for renewal. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Education Requirements: Ph.D. in Lusophone Studies or relevant field required. Preference given to candidates with an emphasis in Afro-Brazilian Studies.

Qualification and Experience: Emphasis in Afro-Brazilian Studies. Those having familiarity with program development in Portuguese are strongly encouraged to apply.
