Minimum Education/Experience: Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Job Duties: The Department of Pediatrics seeks a Nurse Specialist to provide direct patient care and case management for the Pediatric Adolescent clinics and assist in the outpatient management of general pediatric and adult patients. Independent nursing care will be expected, including administering immunizations, IV therapy, nursing support, technical assistance, assisting physicians with procedures, and the activities of maintaining a safe environment, care standards, and inventory control. The selected candidate will interact with residents, medical students, nursing students, and other learners on a daily basis to teach procedures and concepts that relate to nursing practice. In addition, the selected candidate will serve as an educator for the patient population and other family members regarding preventative health measures, disease, and disease management. The selected candidate will also help cover the Adult and Pediatric Healthcare Clinic as needed. Currently, hours of clinic operation are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with a flexible scheduled late day to accommodate patient care, Monday through Friday. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
