Job Duties: The Business Services Coordinator manages human resources activities for Academic Library Services as part of the Administrative Services Department. Primary duties include ensuring timely compliance with all ECU human resources procedures and processes, including initiating EPAFs, submitting vacancy notices and critical justifications for return of positions, tracking the status of vacant positions, writing and updating position descriptions, assisting hiring managers and search committees, posting vacant positions, managing EHRA job candidate travel, reviewing and processing hiring packets, overseeing faculty promotion in rank and advancement in title actions, ensuring that all termination procedures are followed, and ensuring that personnel actions are timely and appropriately managed and communicated to the Division of Academic Affairs. This position provides consultation and advice including referrals as appropriate to ALS employees and management on a wide range of employee relations matters. The position works closely with ECU HR personnel in carrying out these duties and resolving problems. Other duties include coordinating and assisting with compliance matters; assisting with the development and implementation of existing or new training for ALS employees; developing and delivering recommendations for management consideration; conducting orientation sessions for new ALS hires; maintaining the online library staff directory and Intranet resources for ALS employees; managing the Treasured Pirate and other employee recognition programs for ALS; managing confidential records; and assisting the ALS director with projects, meetings, and communications. This position has supervisory responsibility for ALS student hiring and payroll and Kronos, as well as oversight of Administrative Services Department student employees.
