Job Description Summary:

The School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) Center for Faculty Excellence provides service and support to all faculty in SMHS to enhance their teaching, education research, career development, and education leadership.

The Center for Faculty Excellence is seeking a Research Enhancement Specialist. This is a key position in the Center. The main foci of the position are to assist faculty in developing their research agendas by providing consultation on research design, funding, proposal development, IRB submission, data acquisition and analysis, report writing and presentation; and, develop Center-sponsored research initiatives.

Duties Include:
-Provide consultative assistance to faculty regarding the design, funding, approval and implementation of research studies. This includes assistance identifying possible topics and funding sources; conducting appropriate literature searches; identifying a clear research question/hypothesis; aligning data collection and analysis methods and procedures to ensure validity/trustworthiness, and preparing IRB and funding applications.

-Support the Academy of Education Scholars. This includes assisting with the initial development of the Academy; facilitating member to member communications; suggesting meeting topics and recruiting speakers; identifying, contracting for and monitoring research support services (i.e.: statistical analysis, professional transcription, professional manuscript editing) provided to Academy members, and tracking member productivity.

-Develop Center-sponsored research initiatives that support the vision & direction of SMHS. This includes topics, funding and research plan development and implementation.

-Establish, maintain and promote education research materials. This includes material physically located in the Center as well as on the Faculty Development website.

-This position performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

-A Master's degree in Education or a related field with significant coursework in research design, advanced level qualitative and quantitative methods, adult learning theory and instructional design. EdD or PhD preferred.
-A minimum of 5 years of work experience in an academic setting with responsibilities directly related to education research design and implementation.
-Experience working with faculty on the design and execution of research projects preferred.
-Ability to work with minimal direction; shows initiative and is an experienced problem solver; possesses strong organizational skill to ensure that work is completed according to schedule.
-Evidence of providing excellent customer service using discretion and tact.
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
