Job description

Duties: We are looking for a Research Specialist B to work as part of a large team of basic and transitional scientists, and physicians investigating host-microbial interactions. Responsibilities include bacterial culture; in vivo mouse experiments utilizing techniques such as oral gavage and submandibular blood collection; harvesting and processing of mouse tissues; immunofluorescence staining and fluorescence microscopy of mouse tissues; processing mouse tissue samples to extract immune and epithelial cells; acquiring flow cytometry data and performing basic data analysis. The successful candidate is expected to work semi-independently. While prior research experience with mouse handling is strongly preferred, this position will involve on-the-job training and acquisition of new skills. Other expectations of this position include attending and presenting data during lab meetings, actively engage in project discussions, attend seminars, and assist other members of the lab as needed.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, or molecular biology, or related field and 1 year to 3 years of lab experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must have strong organizational, excellent written and oral communication skills, and must be reliable; ability to coordinate several projects concurrently is essential. Willingness to learn new techniques is an asset.
