Position Summary: The Research Technician will function as part of a developing team of scientists interested in understanding the genetic basis of variable medication responses and medications for a wide range of disease areas. The position will be assigned to the laboratory of Dr. Tim Wiltshire at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, and in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics and the Center for Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy. The successful candidate will provide operational research support, data collection and management support, and laboratory support. For operational research support, they will be responsible for planning and executing functional assays of genetic variants with minimal supervision, and troubleshooting of both experimental and instrumental technical issues. For data collection support, they will be responsible for managing the inventory of biological specimens in the laboratory, maintaining records of shipment and storage of bio- specimens, and conducting a variety of laboratory functions aimed toward establishing a functional genomics lab. For laboratory support, they will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of specialized laboratory equipment.
