Position Summary: The Business Services Associate is responsible for facilitating and management of financial services, including a range of duties associated with accounting, reconcilement, and by processing personnel actions on behalf of the University, and university policies and procedures. This position reports to the Associate Director of Business and Finance as a Finance and Personnel Technician and is responsible for processing all student personnel actions for approximately 170 part-time student employees. This position processes accounts payable, accounts receivable, daily reports, data entry, procurement card reconciliation, payments for vendors, and follows up on vendor inquiries regarding payment. In addition, the Business Services Associate will process all required student employee forms and performs duties as requested by Associate Director of Business & Finance. The Business Services Associate answers standard questions to stakeholders, prepares analysis with recommendations for non-standard items to be reviewed with the Business and Finance Officer for the Carolina Union Business Hub, and must strive hard to provide the best professional high-level customer service for staff and vendors of the Union. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT * Monitor invoices for accuracy before generating the check request, checking with Business Services Specialist or Associate Director of Business & Finance if in doubt; * Prepare accounts payables and check requests; * Process all Travel Accounting needs including CABS and travel requests/expenses; * Review and prepare daily, accurate and accountable cash and credit card deposits from internal departments, outside departments and external vendors. HUMAN RESOURCES (for student employees) * Manage personnel actions and time management system for 170 +part-time student employees; * Execute State and University personnel policies and procedures and constant monitoring and mastery of changes; * Assess department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with State and University requirements while looking for efficiency and effective improvements. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION * Work collaboratively with the Union Business staff under the direction of the Associate Director of Business & Finance to prepare and maintain complex spreadsheets for reports for large special events such as Fall Fest and Project Graduation in order to provide accurate information to the Union * Serve as the parking coordinator and manage student uniform inventory for the Carolina Union * Assist Director and the Senior Leadership Team Managers regarding expenditures and income of these projects. INFORMATION ANALYSIS AND DECISION MAKING * Identify, recognize, and resolve problems that have established precedents and limited impact; * Refer non-standard questions or problems to the Associate Director of Business and Finance; * Gather, organize, and analyze financial information and other data. COMMUNICATION * Respond and provide support (technical or otherwise) to others (customers, peers, staff and students) in a respectful, courteous, professional, accurate and timely manner through the use of communication, collaboration, teamwork, knowledge sharing and organizational awareness; * Communicate factual information both written and verbal effectively; * Explain and interpret financial information.

Education Requirements:

Qualification and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
