Position Summary: The School of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill works to improve the lives of North Carolinians by engaging in practical scholarship that helps public officials and citizens understand and improve state and local government. As the largest university-based local government training, advisory, and research organization in the United States, the School of Government offers up to 200 courses, webinars, and specialized conferences for more than 12,000 public officials each year. In addition, faculty members annually publish approximately 50 books, manuals, reports, articles, bulletins, and other print and online content related to state and local government. The School is also home to a nationally ranked graduate program in public administration and specialized centers focused on information technology and environmental finance. The SOG seeks a Project Manager to work closely with the School's Dean and Leadership Team (Senior Associate Dean, Associate Dean for Administration, and Associate Dean for Development). The duties of the Leadership Team Project Manager include a mix of short- and long-term responsibilities that serve the Dean and Leadership Team as determined by the Project Manager and the Senior Associate Dean. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Developing, implementing, and maintaining systems for measuring and communicating the School's impact in our teaching, advising, scholarship, and other services. * Managing projects identified by Leadership Team that: - improve the School's services to audiences we serve, - help the School innovate, and - guide the School toward good decisions about its strategic direction. * Conducting research in support of initiatives, projects, and committees. * Working with the Dean to shape direction and develop agendas for the Dean's Advisory Council. This may entail conducting new research, delivering research-based information, or facilitating meetings. * Managing special projects that support the Leadership Team in achieving the School's mission. This may include planning and preparing agendas for, and doing research in support of, committees of faculty and staff chaired by Leadership Team members.

Education Requirements: Master's degree or professional degree required.

Qualification and Experience: Must have qualifications to effectively design, oversee, support, and complete projects. The position requires someone who is highly organized and creative, skilled at dealing with complexity, and an excellent verbal and written communicator. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex projects, working with teams and committees, developing and implementing initiatives and policies for multiple programs, supporting others, and developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships. Project Management Professional certification, strategic planning experience, and experience working in university or public service settings is helpful.
