VPUL DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
Duties: The VPUL Director of Communications serves an integral member of the Communications and Creative Services team. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and Chief Communications Officer, he/she has oversight of daily requests from a 24/7 student media, divisional news releases, and s well as short-term and long-term multimedia projects. Working closely with the COS/CCO and Director of Design, the Director of Communications has oversight of internal and external media relations, including pitching student-life stories to Penn Today, the Gazette, and other platforms. The Director manages the divisional and departmental web presence and collaborates with directors on strategic social media. The Director has primary writing and organizational responsibility for three yearly Trustee Student Life committee meetings and serves as the division's point person on Annual Reporting. Additionally, the Director will regularly collaborate with, and advise, student leaders on communications and media initiatives.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree (required) in Communications, Business, Planning, Marketing, Public Affairs. Master's Degree preferred. Five-to-seven years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated success in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism and/or media production required. Demonstrated understanding of higher education, especially student life, preferred. Capacity to work effectively with senior management. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team leader to manage multiple priorities at once, including projects with complex and long range project scope. Discretion and mature judgment a must. Ability to work in a friendly, warm and motivated creative environment that has frequent incidences of high pressure under exigent
