Duties: Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Registration and Financial Services, the University Registrar is responsible for overall direction and leadership of the Registrar's office. Responsibilities will include playing a leadership role in the implementation of a new student records and registration system and streamlining policies and procedures of the office. The successful candidate must be strategic, decisive, analytical and capable of bringing a sophisticated and resourceful approach to his/her role. Additionally, S/he must keep abreast of operational and reporting trends, regulations, and technology solutions for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Registrar's office.

The University Registrar is responsible for the supervision and management of all administrative and operational functions of the office, including, but not limited to: registration, enrollment and degree verification, degree audit/academic advisement implementation, graduation and certification of degrees, transfer credit evaluation, grading policies, attendance, transcripts, academic calendar, classroom scheduling, space utilization, veterans' services, NCAA Certification, and adherence to academic policies.

The Registrar ensures the integrity, accuracy, and security of all academic records of current and former students, and facilitates effective student registration and enrollment. Builds secure student data files and sets policy and procedure for their responsible use; maintains up-to-date course schedules, catalogs, final examination schedules; manages efficient use of classrooms; and supervises and maintains the student systems, which may include Banner and degree audit systems.

The incumbent works closely with the Provost's Office and Penn's twelve schools regarding academic/administrative matters, as well as with the University Secretary for the delivery of diplomas and commencement ceremonies. The Registrar counsels and advises students, faculty, and staff on academic matters; and interprets and enforces policies and regulations of the University, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the United States, including FERPA. Additionally, the Registrar chairs the Registrar's Council and is a member of various University-wide councils and committees.

The University Registrar will play a major role in assuring that students are provided with consistent, high-quality services aligned with Penn's efforts to maximize student success

Qualifications: A Master's Degree and 7 years to 10 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
Previous experience as a university registrar or associate level in a large or mid-sized complex institution is preferred. Strong management & leadership skills; strong strategic vision; independent judgment, problem-solving, and decision making in response to multiple demands. Evidence of well-developed analytical and communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs-as well as with hybrid and online learning environments. Experience working in an ERP environment preferred, along with sophisticated project/process management skills; ability to produce results as part of a collaborative team in a complex decentralized environment.
