Advertised Job Summary: The Communications Coordinator will be a key member of the Communications department and will support the Director of Communications in content creation and in developing, establishing and maintaining strategies for keeping all School of Law audiences (prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty and staff) involved and knowledgeable about people, programs and events at the School of Law. Manages social media efforts for the School of Law, including FB, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube and any others that may arise. Works with Dir. of Communications to develop a content strategy plan and consistent timeline for posting to the law school's social media accounts. Plan must take into consideration best SM practices and various audience needs for each account. This includes creating and coordinating interesting and compelling content (text, video and/or graphics); as well as developing contests, take-overs and other creative ways to actively engage audiences and promote academic units, School of Law programs, faculty, students, and events. Works with Events Coordinator and individual academic units to ensure coordinated promotion of assigned events, including proactively reaching out to faculty, students, and staff to learn more about events and explore best ways to promote them. Works with Dir. of Communications to create and implement strategy for promotion of events (timing, channels, materials, etc.). Helps create attractive, professional-looking graphics that can be used on various platforms to assist in promotion of events. Helps create attractive, professional-looking collateral materials as needed for events (posters, invitations, programs, etc.). Acts as primary still photographer/videographer for School of Law events. Produces short form videos promoting School of Law faculty/students/alumni and events. Shared responsibility with Director of Communications for interviewing, researching, writing and editing news releases, articles, feature stories, speeches and other promotional materials for use on web, alumni and prospective student recruitment publications, and other platforms. Helps maintain and manage website and blog content. Please provide a minimum of two writing samples that were not written as part of a class research assignment. Samples should be at least 300 words long. Preferably, the samples will tell a story about and/or help promote a person, program/initiative, or event. Please provide one or two graphic design samples. All writing and graphic design samples may be combined into one document for uploading. Please provide a minimum of two short form videos that demonstrate video/editing skills. A document containing links to where the videos can be found online is acceptable.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.
