Posting Information: The Geography program at Western Carolina University seeks an 9 month fixed term Instructor to teach introductory human geography courses in support of the University Liberal Studies program and the Geography minor, and advanced courses in support of several majors in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Geography minor. This is a 9 month, non-tenure track appointment to begin in August 2018. The position is for one year, but has potential for multi-year renewal contingent upon program needs, availability of funding, and effective performance. Geography is housed in the department of Geosciences and Natural Resources, which is home to four degree programs and the Geography minor. The primary responsibility is to teach 4 courses per semester (12 credit hours) including introductory courses such as World Geography and Cultural Geography, and advanced courses such as Political and Regional Geography. In addition to teaching, Instructors are responsible for service contributions to the department and university as assigned each academic year by the Geosciences and Natural Resources Department Head, in consultation with the Instructor.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: PhD in a geography or related field; an ABD candidate will be considered. Degrees must be from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates the complement strengths of the department and allied programs in the social sciences.
