The Department of Biology, University of Miami, Coral Gables Campus has a position available for a Postdoctoral Associate. The individual in this role will participate in conducting experiments in evolutionary developmental biology. The laboratory focuses on the role of the Wnt signaling pathway in early embryonic development and animal body plan evolution. The individual will conduct research in this area, including participation in planning of procedures, developing and learning new methodologies, and training graduate and undergraduate students. The individual will be expected to have a strong working knowledge of concepts in developmental biology, and technical expertise in situ hybridization, gene cloning, immunohistochemistry procedures, microinjection and experimental embryology. The individual will be expected to participate in writing grants and manuscripts for publication.

Research: 80%
Planning: 10%
Writing papers and grants: 5%
Training students: 5%

Minimum qualifications:
• Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Developmental Biology.
• Prior experience in marine invertebrate developmental biology is preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of basic molecular and cell biology techniques including polymerase chain reaction, RNA extraction, gene cloning, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry techniques and experimental embryology. Apply online. Position #: P100034902.
