6637 Administrative Analyst/Specialist, Exempt II, Planning, Design and Construction
San Diego State University is seeking applicants with demonstrated experience and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of historically underrepresented groups.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Act as hands-on technical expertise in office for digital media associated with design and construction of campus buildings. Included in this effort is responsibility to maintain and update office website. Manage the University’s facilities archive plan room and related electronic data base resources and performs associated administrative tasks. Keep system operational and up to date. Keep current with technical knowledge of associated software and applications in order to fulfill this responsibility. Develops procedures to insure correctness, appropriateness, and availability of CAD and GIS documents to the University. Manage small facilities improvement/maintenance projects as needed. Provide administrative support to office as needed. The incumbent will help create a smooth, cooperative atmosphere that is sensitive and responsive to both the CSU system and the campus community and will provide total continuity and appropriate assistance in the office when and where necessary, thereby projecting a professional image.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $6,000 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,693 - $8,002 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Must recognize and embrace a “teamwork” philosophy within Facilities Services and the university. Employee is required to function as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and work well with Facilities Services staff from different areas and shops. Must demonstrate initiative and good problem-solving skills.
- Must have ability to form cooperative relationships and work effectively as a member of a team, or alone. Must have ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations and to recognize, secure and report unsafe conditions immediately. Must have knowledge of safe working techniques and safety equipment and must be aware of the typical hazards of the work place as well as the special hazards that may be encountered (biohazards, chemicals, asbestos/lead containing materials).
- Must have ability to understand and apply university and departmental policies and procedures.
- Experience – Three years experience in a staff or supervisory capacity in facilities operations administration or the construction industry, including experience in design, plan analysis and estimating for multiple trade projects. First hand experience in working with electronic drawing/CAD systems.
- Education – Equivalent or in process to graduation from a four-year college in engineering, architecture, business management, facilities management, industrial technology construction management, or equivalent applicable experience.
- Familiarity with state guidelines for Building Construction/Repair and Minor Capital Outlay programs; knowledge of SDSU procurement policies and procedures. Ability to learn and utilize computer aided drafting.
